About Buteyko Breathing Technique
Buteyko is a breathing technique named after the Ukranian doctor who invented it, Konstantin Buteyko. Buteyko aims to develop healthy breathing patterns, which help to maintain the correct ratio of oxygen and carbon dioxide within the bloodstream.
Many diseases are believed to be cause by dysfunctional breathing, the most notable of these being asthma. The Buteyko Method reconditions breathing by bringing breathing volume towards normal and making the switch from mouth to nose breathing.
Buteyko uses a series of breathing retraining exercises that are not difficult to do but require effort and dedication to see results.
